East Cambridgeshire is a largely rural district where agriculture accounts for higher proportions of employment compared to the area overall and nationally. Manufacturing and Business administration are the two largest employment sectors in the area, accounting for over 20% of employment. A quarter of the workforce are employed in professional occupations. East Cambridgeshire is home to the cathedral city of Ely, and the market towns of Littleport and Soham. East Cambridgeshire borders South Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire and Fenland.
